A long walk to the mailbox

I love the fact that we live in the country, miles from town and the busy, crowded streets and houses right next to each other.  We have over 5 acres of property, our home, nestled among the fir trees and blackberry bushes.  I was so happy planning our home before our move, where we would put our roses, which of the wall mount mailboxes we would get, and where the mailbox should go.  Then I found out that the mailboxes are at the bottom of the hill up to our home, and they are secured by wooden posts.  It saves the postal deliverer time and gas, but I do miss not having a mailbox by the door.
